The IET, with its Headquarters in the United Kingdom, is one of the world’s leading professional institutions in the engineering and technology community with more than 155,000 members in 148 countries in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific. The IET provides a global knowledge network to facilitate the exchange of ideas and promote the positive role of science, engineering and technology in the world.
Our Story
We celebrated our 150th anniversary from October 2020 - September 2021, and it was certainly a year to remember!
From inspirational talks and competitions to awards and unlikely partnerships – we commemorated our rich history and the impact engineering and technology have on the world around us through a variety of celebrations with international members, volunteers, partners and friends.
It was also a fantastic opportunity to take STEM beyond our normal communities; sharing the possibilities it can offer with wider society and changing the narrative on what being an engineer really means. Check out what took place and the legacy activities still to come below.
Vision
Current habits of urban mobility in the cities with quick tempo are characterised by a continuous urban expansion because of the housing shortage and the dependency on the traveling time as per the daily life cycle. Sustainable transport aims to reduce the negative impacts associated with this increased urban mobility and to promote more environmentally friendly modes of transport.
