STEM for Girls
This STEM event is an extended event of ICRE to introduce the railway developments to girl schools. IET Hong Kong's RTS offers a half day short course which is provided by HKUST.
The HKUST Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Team has been named champion in Explorer Class of the Hong Kong Regional of the MATE International ROV Competition 2023. The ROV Team, a sub-team of the HKUST Robotics Team, represented Hong Kong to join the MATE International ROV Competition 2023, which was held in Longmont, Colorado in Jun 2023.
The 2023 team consists of 28 undergraduates from various disciplines and nearly all of them are from Year 1 and Year 2. The students come from different UG programs including SENG, CIVL, COMP, COSE, CPEG, ELEC, ISD, MECH, OCES [Miss NG Ji Yan], MATH, PHYS, GBM and IPO.
Applied Learning and then Sharing Knowledge
The HKUST ROV team share the knowledge to HK secondary schools as a community service.
ROV Workshop's Aim for Secondary Schools
The ROV knowledge and skills (Microprocessor Program and Mechanical Principle) are not main frame.
The young students to be thankful and to appreciate the efforts of their teammates and teachers – as he believed gratitude and appreciation were the most important part of whole program. The workshop also encouraged the students to share their experience and inspiration with their schoolmates and others who do not yet participate in this workshop

To provide further encouragement, he asked the students to “believe in yourself” and embrace failure as part of the learning process, citing the ROV experience team’s own experience in innovating new ways to deliver experiential learning programs to young students
